TubeMate YouTube Free Download videos from an Android smartphone or tablet...

As on a computer, it is possible to download YouTube videos with a device running Android using a specialized app like TubeMate.

Allow installation of third-party APKs

Because the TubeMate app is not available on the Google Play Store, you must first set up your Android device to install third-party apps. Attention, the procedure varies depending on the version of Android and the overlay used by its manufacturer. You may have to dig through the menus to find the setting that allows downloading from "unknown sources". 

Here is for example the procedure to follow with a "basic" Android.

• On your device, go to Settings , then to the Security section .
• Scroll through the subtopics to reach Device Administration and select the Unknown Sources check box .

On some smartphones with a recent version of Android, a message appears when you download an APK from an unknown source, asking for permission to install it. It is then enough to accept.

Download and install TubeMate

TubeMate has an interface similar to that of YouTube.

• Once on the Home screen, after passing the bubbles describing the basic manipulations, click on the magnifying glass in the upper right corner and enter a few words to find a video.
• A list of videos matching your search appears, as in YouTube. Click on the video that interests you.
• The reading begins. Click on the video to pause it.
• To download the video, click on the red button with an arrow at the bottom of the screen.
• A window appears, displaying different qualities available. Choose the format that's right for you - the higher the quality, the bigger the file - and click on the red button again.
• If necessary, accept the execution in the systematic background of the application as proposed by the screen that appears by clicking Allow .
• Once back on the main screen, flick the screen from right to left - swipe in jargon - to see the list of downloaded videos.
• Then click on the freshly recovered video to play it on your device via your video player.

Once the video is recovered on your device, you can copy it to a computer, transfer it to a memory card, broadcast it on a TV or share it on social networks, just like any other video, and of course respect the terms of use defined by its creators.
